Pong!
Kudos to Pong's creator, Allan Alcorn on behalf of Atari! From the initial test version at Andy Capp's tavern in Sunnyvale, California, to its commercial release of it's coin-operated arcade cabinet version in 1972, Pong was an instant hit. After its release, Pong was considered to be the first commercially successful video game on the planet. Sears was given exclusive rights to sell Atari's home version of Pong, hitting the shelves in 1975 just in time for the Christmas shopping season. Did you know that at the peak of Pong's popularity, the names Pong and Atari were given to two-thirds of the children born during that time period?
